TENNIS: PASSION & DEVELOPMENT
Luis Mediero started playing tennis at age 6 and it wasn’t long before he started climbing the national ranking, reaching the Top 100 in the Open division.
At a young age he had the opportunity to teach his first tennis lessons, where he discovered his interest in teaching the sport and sooner than he thought he was realizing his dream of dedicating his life to his passion: teaching tennis.
His steps towards education consisted in an unmatched process in the tennis industry. He holds 8 International Masters and more than 150 tennis certificates, which places him in a privileged position to expand the sport of tennis around the world.
In addition, Mediero is also an expert at organizing events, sports consulting and management. In the early years of his career, he worked for the best tennis academies and tennis centers in different parts of the planet. He then started his own academy and was also in charge of the largest private organization in Spain, dedicated to the management of tennis centers, where he worked with players of all ages, skill and levels of play.
In 1989 he founded the Registry of Tennis Professionals – RPT, to offer educational programs, international certifications and comprehensive services to tennis teaching professionals and their academies. In more than 35 years, the RPT has become a world leader in its market, having certified more than 26.400 professionals in 130 countries.
His restlessness to promote the sport of tennis has driven him to organize programs and activities where more than 750.000 players have participated. In 1995 he was inducted in the Guinness Book of World Records for “instructing the largest tennis clinic ever recorded”. In 1996 he started the tournament “Circuito Nacional Jóvenes Promesas” (National Tournament for Juniors), for the Under 16 division, where Juan Carlos Ferrero #1 ATP won the first edition. The RPT Junior Tour will celebrate its twenty-ninth edition this year, becoming the longest and largest circuit in Spanish tennis, with categories Sub12 & Sub14 (Challenge), Sub16 (Jóvenes Promesas) and Sub18 (Junior Cup) with 70 events throughout the national territory and where around 7,000 players participate every year.
In 1997 he developed the revolutionary program “Streetennis”, bringing tennis to the streets of Spanish cities and later on, ATP Smash Tennis,bringing tennis to the cities around the world. In 2000 he introduced “Charlytennis” for children who were just starting to play tennis; “Wheeltennis” was designed in 2001 for players in a wheelchair; “Academytennis” for high performance players in 2002, and “Adultennis” transformed the teaching methods for adult players in 2004.
During 2006, he created an innovative teaching method named: “CDS: Concept Drive System”. In the year 2008, Mediero organized “Streetennis Cup” and “Adultennis Cup” tournaments to promote junior and adult tennis in more than 150 clubs throughout Spain, through local and regional competitions and a National Master and, in this same year, registered the “S2P: Simple, Sensible & Practical” methodology, which It is the basis of all RPT training programs: teaching the sport in a simple, straightforward and 100% practical way.
In 2010, he patented WES: Web Education System, which uses the internet as a platform for all tennis professionals to be constantly connected and updated.
During 2009, the RPT – Insignia Tennis Team was launched, made up of the players: Juan Carlos Ferrero (ATP #1), David Ferrer (ATP#3), Anabel Medina (WTA#16), Virginia Ruano(WTA #28) together with the young promises Javier Martí (U12 European Champion) and Carlos Boluda (U14 World Champion) in order to promote and develop tennis in Spain.
During 2011 it registered “EBS: Educational Basic System”, which includes the registered teaching systems: SBIniciación, SBAvanzado, SBCompetición, SBDirección and World Tour Integral. In 2012, introduced a new educational innovation: TeTaFiMe, which is made up of 4 pillars: Te/technical, Ta/tactical, Fi/physical and Me/mental, which have been united, intertwined and interconnected so that any individual can achieve their Ideal Competitive State. During 2014 presented “HdP – Human Development Pathway” the human being develops through a path to obtain his CHARACTER and sport forms a very important part in this process.
“ADVISA: Feel Powerful” is a formula implemented in 2015 that helps professionals achieve a higher level of performance, maximizing their energy. Already, in 2017, the ADJUSTIV system began to be used in all training programs, which consists of a training system that establishes 4 levels to help the client / professional to reach their most appropriate level.
Mediero has been linked to the sport and business for more than 40 years and is considered to be one of 10 most influential people in tennis education worldwide (2005). He has also been recognized in two occasions as “Best Tennis Teacher in the World” (1994/1997) and in 1993 he was awarded the “Enterprise International Master” for “his high professional values dedicated to teaching tennis.” During his extensive professional career he has received numerous awards, highlighting in 2023 his entry into the “International Professional Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame” for his excellent professional career and his role in shaping the panorama of professional tennis. This same year he was awarded by the Professional Tennis Coaches Association with the Bob Brett Mentoring Award for his contribution to the development and growth of tennis coaches and players internationally, also receiving the Master Professional Award awarded by Estess Athletic University for his dedication for players and coaches development, as well as for his contribution to the global tennis community.
In his effort to promote tennis at all levels, Mediero has taught courses and given conferences in more than 80 countries. He has published 9 books, 24 videos, 22 teaching manuals, 20 CD-Rom’s, 30 DVD´s, booklets on “master classes” and written hundreds of articles about education for national and international media. His book “Initiation to Tennis” is now a “Best Seller” and considered to be the most sold tennis book in the history of Spanish speaking countries. He has also worked as commentator for TV and radio stations.
He has been recognized as one of the top drivers of “Spanish Tennis”, and has taught and certified more than 9.000 coaches in all the autonomous regions and almost all the cities in Spain. The contribution to the development of tennis in the country speaks for itself, supporting coaches and academies that have generated all the wonderful players that have received so many international accolades in the last three decades.
The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation – RFET has announced, on november 2017, its agreement with the Registry of Tennis Professionals – RPT to promote the practice and coaching of tennis, and thus has acknowledged the task that RPT has fulfilled in this area for the past 27 years. In November 2021, the RFET – Royal Spanish Tennis Federationofficially recognized the RPT Training Programs and Certification Degrees.
INNOVATION & GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT
In 1989 he created Tennis Consulting International so he could offer a broad range of consulting services in the analysis, design, building and management of sporting facilities, as well as consulting in the integral management of sporting events, thanks to his experience of having traveled the world visiting hundreds of sporting clubs and tennis teaching facilities.
His great concern led him to try to expand the success achieved in tennis to other sports with the same philosophy and work system. In 1993 he decided to launch the Registry of Padel Professionals – RPP, which in a short time became one of the main promoters of this sport in Spain, with more than 4,000 qualified coaches in all the autonomous communities and more than 4 million players, and a key piece in the development of this sport at an international level. The RPP currently has nearly 9,000 qualified coaches in more than 90 countries.
The possible growth and expansion of what started with tennis and branching out to other sports, drove him to change Tennis Consulting International into what we know today as the International Coaches Institute. Since 2002, the “ICI” started functioning as an umbrella organization of the different Professional Registries of and to help them develop and expand at an international level in an effort to offer all the necessary tools to educate and develop people thorough sports.
Later he decided to apply the experience of tennis and padel in a new field: golf. Thus was born, in 2002, the Registry of Golf Professionals – RPP, which in a few years has achieved a position in the golf market as a leading organization in terms of training and certification programs for golf instructors and professionals in Spain and global level, with more than 1,000 qualified instructors in Spain and more than 6,500 certified instructors in 70 countries.
Since then, other sports have been incorporated with the aim of completing all those common disciplines in most sports centers. The great growth of the fitness industry led it to close the cycle with the launch, in 2006, the Registry of Fitness Professionals – RPF present with certified trainers in more than 50 countries.
SportsMarketing promotes sports by organizing different events, competitions, tournaments, clinics and educational activities, where +1 million players have participated.It also develops promotional marketing and sponsorship plans related to the sports industry.
The Registry of Multimedia Professionals: RPMultimedia has the mission of offering instruments of interaction and communication between the company and its clients. The Registry of Stringers Professionals – RPE offers training programs, international certification and comprehensive services to racket stringing and preparation professionals. During 2013, it launched the Sports Marketing Institute, for the training and development of courses for the representation of athletes, the organization and marketing of sporting events and consulting in the field of entertainment.
Its latest vision is established in 2021 where it launches the Registry of Pickleball Professionals – RPPk in the United States to offer educational programs, international certification and comprehensive services to Pickleball teaching professionals and their teaching centers, given the demand for this. new sport with spectacular growth in the United States, where nearly 40 million players. During 2023, the first professional training and certification course will be held in Europe, and in Spain.
For 35 years, the International Coaches Institute has trained more than 100,000 sports coaches, and currently has +50,000 certified coaches in 130 countries.
CORPORATE TRAINING
With all the years of experience in the training and certification of sports coaches, during 2008 he launched Corporate Athlete, to apply the secrets of success in high sports performance to the business world, with the aim of offering different theoretical/practical advice so that Managers can achieve the Ideal Competitive State.
For 16 years, we have managed to create a “Unique Corporate Experience” where more than 15,000 senior managers from small, medium and large companies have participated in an exclusive training program for high performance, thanks to the team made up of a “Team of Experts” who knows first-hand the demands of today’s competitive world, in any field of business or sport.
